Ames Junior Chamber Weekly Update – January 13

Published by under Weekly Newsletter

Happy Tuesday Ames Jaycees!

Here what’s going on this week:

NOTHING!! That’s right! For the first time in Jaycee history, the Ames Jaycees have no official events scheduled for an ENTIRE WEEK!! NADA!!!

So, everyone can do laundry, catch up on the TiVo, and make snow angels…

While you are freezing your gibs and giblets, start thinking about joining one of our summer project committees. Ames on the Half Shell and Fireworks both need your help and input. Watch for meeting announcements in your weekly update emails, and on our website (www.amesjaycees.com) Or, take the bull by the horns and contact any board member to sign up!

Keep warm!

Ames Named one of the Best Place to Raise Kids
According to BusinessWeek, Ames was just named one of the top three places in Iowa to raise kids. West Des Moines was ranked number one in the state, while Ames and Cedar Rapids were runners up on the list.
The magazine and on-line news source ranked their top choices state by state using weighted criteria including school performance, number of schools, household expenditures, crime rates, job growth, diversity and more. All towns considered have at least 50,000 residents and a median family income between $40,000 and $100,000.
This is quite an affirmation for Ames, especially considering the tremendous growth experienced by West Des Moines in recent years.
